Ο ΟΤΕ στην οικογένεια του Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις

Μια νέα συνεργασία, με τη μορφή χορηγίας, ξεκινά για το Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις 2013. Στις εταιρείες που επί σειρά ετών έχουν δείξει έμπρακτα την υποστήριξή τους στον αγώνα, φέτος προστίθεται και ο ΟΤΕ, ως Επίσημος Χορηγός.

Ο Οργανισμός Τηλεπικοινωνιών της Ελλάδος (ΟΤΕ A.E.) είναι ο μεγαλύτερος τηλεπικοινωνιακός πάροχος στην Ελλάδα, ενώ μαζί με τις θυγατρικές του αποτελεί σήμερα έναν από τους κορυφαίους τηλεπικοινωνιακούς ομίλους στη Νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη. Ο Όμιλος ΟΤΕ προσφέρει ευρυζωνικές υπηρεσίες, σταθερή και κινητή τηλεφωνία, συνδρομητικές υπηρεσίες τηλεόρασης, επικοινωνία δεδομένων υψηλών ταχυτήτων και υπηρεσίες μισθωμένων γραμμών. Ο Όμιλος ΟΤΕ απασχολεί περίπου 30.000 άτομα σε 4 χώρες.

Η νέα συνεργασία αποτελεί ένα ισχυρό υπόβαθρο στις τεχνολογικές απαιτήσεις ενός αθλητικού γεγονότος παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας. Ο ΟΤΕ, σε συνεργασία με την Οργάνωση του Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις, θα αναπτύξει και θα υλοποιήσει ένα ολοκληρωμένο πλάνο επικοινωνίας και ενεργειών, με στόχο να προσφέρει στους φίλους τους Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις καινοτόμες ιδέες παρακολούθησης του αγώνα.

Το Ράλλυ Ακρόπολις 2013 θα μεταδοθεί αποκλειστικά, και σε ποιότητα high definition, από τον ΟΤΕ TV, που έχει εξασφαλίσει τα δικαιώματα μετάδοσης του Παγκόσμιου Πρωταθλήματος Ράλλυ.

FORD FIESTA SUPER 2400 TO MAKE DEBUT ON THE MALCOLM WILSON RALLY



M-Sport, the company behind the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team, will debut their latest customer product developed over the closed season at the upcoming Malcolm Wilson Rally on 2 March 2013.

As well as preparing a four car assault on the 2013 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), M-Sport’s engine specialists have developed an all new 2.4 Litre engine initially intended for its S2000 specification car. This new engine is a direct replacement for the standard 2 Litre unit and significantly lifts the power to 325 bhp as well as improving the torque figures throughout the RPM range.

The honour of testing the new engine on its competitive debut falls to the man who sponsors the rally – M-Sport Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson OBE, who will be partnered by Roger Albert Clark winning navigator and head of M-Sport’s Logistics department, John ‘Milly’ Millington. The engine will be fitted to the Ford Fiesta S2000 which first claimed victory on its debut at the Monte Carlo Rally in 2010.

Although the new engine is not homologated for FIA use, it has been designed for competitors using the Fiesta S2000 in National Championships such as the BTRDA. As well as an upgrade for the S2000 specification Fiesta, the engine has also been designed so that it can be used in other applications such as Ford’s MkI and MkII Escorts.

Following its maiden outing on the Malcolm Wilson Rally, the engine is scheduled to be released to customers within the coming months.

M-Sport Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson, said: “With the introduction of the [Ford] Fiesta R5, M-Sport identified that demand for the naturally aspirated car may turn more towards National rally series. This gave us a perfect opportunity to develop a new power plant for the car with improved performance. The engine has primarily been designed to appeal to competitors who run in non FIA restricted series, and will allow the customer to have an engine that not only sounds great, but has the added bonus of being coupled with one of the best chassis designs around – that of the [Ford] Fiesta S2000. We are also looking to sell the engine separately so that anyone who is building their own car can use the unit in their own projects. This kind of engine really appeals to me so with having the luxury of a spare weekend before heading to [Rally] Mexico, I couldn’t let the opportunity of giving the unit its debut pass me by. It had been a while since I have competed competitively, but I hope people will come out just to hear the noise!”

Robert Kubica in WRC2 in 2013 for Citroen

Robert Kubica will compete in the World Rally Championship’s WRC2 category this year driving for Citroen.

The ex-Formula 1 driver has chosen a season of rallying over circuit racing for his return to regular competition, having competed in a handful of rallies towards the end of last year including two in a Citroen C4 WRC.Kubica will drive a Citroen DS3 RRC (Regional Rally Car) on seven WRC rounds this year.The Pole will begin his season with the European Rally Championship’s Rally Canary Islands on March 21-23 before starting his WRC2 programme at Rally Portugal on April 11-14.

«I weighed up the different options before deciding this programme,» said Kubica. «I kept in touch with Citroen and both sides were keen to continue working together.

«I’m really pleased now to be able to return to top-level racing. Taking part in Rally Islas Canarias will be an interesting challenge for me.»

«I can’t wait to start, but I haven’t set myself any specific target. I still have a lot to learn and to improve I will need to rack up the miles on the stages.»

Citroen Racing team principal Yves Matton believes that the DS3 RRC offers the ideal starting point for Kubica’s rally career.

«I am especially pleased to have Robert as one of our drivers in 2013,» he said.

«Thanks to the support of his partners, we are in the process of putting together a programme that will enable him to improve in a car that offers similar handling to a World Rally Car.

«Robert’s determination is an example to us all and we are proud to associate Citroen Racing’s image with such a resolutely positive individual.»

Matton also thanked the FIA for its support after the governing body gave Kubica dispensation to drive with a paddle shift gearbox, due to the hand and arm injuries he sustained in a crash on the Ronde di Andora Rally in 2011.

The paddle shift, placed on the left of the steering wheel, has been specifically designed to have a slower shift to match the gearchange speed of a conventional RRC gearbox.

Citroen added that Kubica could compete in more ERC rounds later in the year. The series visits the Pole’s home country on September 13-15
