Αλλαγή σκυτάλης στη Citroen



Ο Ιβ Ματόν πήρε τα ηνία του αγωνιστικού διευθυντή από τον Ολιβιέ Κενέλ. Στόχος είναι να διατηρήσει τη Citroen στην κορυφή.

Ο Ολιβιέ Κενέλ δεν κατάφερε να διατηρήσει την ισορροπία ανάμεσα στους οδηγούς της Citroen πέρυσι, τον Σεμπαστιάν Λεμπ και τον Σεμπαστιάν Οζιέ.

Έτσι αποφασίστηκε να αφοσιωθεί στα καθήκοντα του επικεφαλής του αγωνιστικού τμήματος της Peugeot.

Κατά την τετραετή θητεία του προκάλεσε αρκετές φορές με τη συμπεριφορά του. Πιστεύεται πως ο Λεμπ ανανέωσε το συμβόλαιο του με την προϋπόθεση πως δεν θα συνεργαζόταν πλέον με τον Κενέλ.

Καθήκοντα τιμ μάνατζερ στη Citroen ανέλαβε ο Ιβ Ματόν, ο οποίος είχε αποχωρήσει από τη Citroen όταν του πήρε τη δουλειά ο Κενέλ.



Θα έχει τη δύσκολη αποστολή να διατηρήσει την ισορροπία ανάμεσα στον Λεμπ και τον νεοαποκτηθέντα Μίκο Χίρβονεν.

Ο Ματόν βρέθηκε για πρώτη φορά στην οικογένεια της Citroen από το 2002. Ο Ματόν θα δίνει... λογαριασμό στον Φρεντερίκ Μπανζέ, ο οποίος ευχαρίστηκε τον Κενέλ και διευκρίνισε πως αποστολή του Ματόν "θα είναι να διατηρήσει τη Citroen στα ίδια επίπεδα απόδοσης".

Στο Ράλι Μόντε Κάρλο θα κάνει την πρεμιέρα του στο παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα ο Ματόν. Πηγη sport24.gr

FIA World Rally Championship 08/01/2012

Last Friday the FIA served notice to terminate its contract with North One Sport, the Promoter of the FIA World Rally Championship. The FIA sought urgent unequivocal assurances from NOS that it could fulfil its contractual obligations and deliver the promotion of the upcoming Rally Monte Carlo and the Championship for 2012 and for the future. It is with regret and disappointment that no such assurance has been given to the FIA, and therefore today the FIA has been driven to terminate its contract with NOS. NOS has conspicuously failed to deliver its contractual obligations and is in fundamental breach of contract.

Following the recent unforeseen circumstances which led to Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI) the parent company being placed into administration in November 2011, the FIA has fully supported and co-operated with both NOS and the administrators of the parent company CSI in their efforts to secure a purchaser. Contrary to press speculation however, no firm offer to purchase NOS has been presented to the FIA during this period but only numerous non-binding expressions of interest subject to due diligence. The FIA has been notified of at least 7 expressions of interest, but none have come to fruition.

The FIA has given time and support to all the parties concerned to find the right solutions. Regrettably however, not only has NOS failed to perform in accordance with its contract, it has also been unable to secure the essential investment required to enable it to deliver the Championship.

This has placed the FIA in an unprecedented situation just 10 days before Rally Monte Carlo in that the FIA will now have to take urgent action to secure the staging of the Championship. The Fédération is now working tirelessly to ensure the WRC goes ahead as fully as planned to mitigate the consequences of the breach of NOS.

At the start of the 2012 season, the FIA wishes to take this opportunity to reassure all its stakeholders - the Automobile Club de Monaco and Rally Monte Carlo which makes a welcome return as the opening round of the Championship, the other vital commercial partners, Rally Organisers, the Manufacturers and Teams, and the vast loyal worldwide fan base - of its full on-going commitment to the World Rally Championship and its determination to see 2012 take place as planned.

The FIA has now launched urgent top level discussions with several partners and suppliers to guarantee the key organisational and promotional components of the Championships, including timing and tracking, TV production and distribution, as well as sponsorship servicing are put in place.

The FIA is fully confident that it will deliver a safe, successful and exciting 2012 season, adding that in the current context, and while there are still on-going discussions, it would not be appropriate for the Fédération to discuss these matters publicly until a final solution has been reached

WRC: North One, τέλος!

Όταν ο μεγιστάνας Vladimir Antonov επένδυε μέσω της εταιρίας του, της Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI), στη North One Sport και στο WRC γενικότερα, δημιουργήθηκε ένα κλίμα αισιοδοξίας, άμεσα συνδεδεμένο με την οικονομική επιφάνεια του Ρώσου επενδυτή. Όμως, ο Antonov βρέθηκε μπλεγμένος σε ένα σκάνδαλο με λιθουανική τράπεζα, η οποία και πτώχευσε. Αυτό είχε σαν αποτέλεσμα ο Antonov να βρεθεί στα δικαστήρια και η CSI να περάσει σε καθεστώς επιτήρησης, από τη στιγμή που ο Ρώσος κατηγορείται για απάτη. Η North One Sport, μπορεί να μην βρέθηκε σε αντίστοιχο καθεστώς, αλλά ήταν φανερό πως έπρεπε να βρεθεί νέος επενδυτής. Η NOS ήρθε σε επαφές με αρκετούς ενδιαφερόμενους, με σημαντικότερες διαπραγματεύσεις αυτές που έγιναν με το Κατάρ. Δυστυχώς, αυτές δεν ευδοκίμησαν, με αποτέλεσμα εχθές αργά το βράδυ η FIA να ανακοινώσει το τέλος της συνεργασίας της με την North One Sport.

Η Παγκόσμια Ομοσπονδία διαβεβαίωσε ότι ο πρώτος αγώνας της χρονιάς στο Μόντε Κάρλο, αλλά και οι υπόλοιποι δώδεκα του θεσμού θα διεξαχθούν κανονικά χωρίς προβλήματα, ενώ δεν κρύβει στην ανακοίνωση της ότι βρίσκεται σε συζητήσεις με άλλες εταιρίες που θα αναλάβουν την προώθηση του WRC.

Οι τελευταίες πληροφορίες αναφέρουν ότι το μεγαλύτερο αθλητικό κανάλι, το Eurosport, θα είναι αυτό που θα αναλάβει τόσο την τηλεοπτική κάλυψη του θεσμού, όσο και την προώθηση του παγκοσμίως, χωρίς όμως να έχουν γίνει γνωστές λεπτομέρειες.

Η πραγματικότητα είναι ότι αυτή τη στιγμή το Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα Ράλλυ βρίσκεται σε μία ιδιαίτερη κρίσιμη καμπή, αφού μερικές ημέρες πριν την έναρξη του πρώτου αγώνα της χρονιάς, κανείς δεν μπορεί να πει με σιγουριά ότι ο αγώνας θα καλυφθεί τηλεοπτικά, αλλά και διαδικαστικά, αφού η North One Sport και μία θυγατρική της είχαν αναλάβει όλα αυτά τα χρόνια μέχρι και την χρονομέτρηση των ειδικών διαδρομών.

Η FIA εγγυάται ότι ο αγώνας θα διεξαχθεί κανονικά, βασισμένη και στην εμπειρία της λέσχης που οργανώνει τον πρώτο αγώνα της χρονιάς. Ίδωμεν!_Π.Τ.

Al-Rajhi to contest S-WRC with Ford Fiesta RS RRC



Simon Jean-Joseph has today confirmed a collaboration with M-Sport Ltd. to support Yazeed Al-Rajhi behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta RS Regional Rally Car (RRC) in the 2012 edition of the WRC’s official support series, the S-WRC.

Al-Rajhi, who secured victory on every round he entered in the FIA’s Middle East Rally Championship back in 2010, has shown consistent improvement throughout 2011 in various events throughout Europe. Driving an M-Sport run Ford Fiesta S2000, the Saudi Arabian took to the stages of Wales Rally GB in November alongside experienced co-driver, Michael Orr. This year will see the pairing make a welcome return to the world stage together with Simon Jean-Joseph.

With a pedigree of rallying talent and experience behind him, Al Rajhi is in good hands as he embarks upon his 2012 campaign. Double European Rally Champion, Simon Jean-Joseph, brings vast experience to the team including competitive knowledge of the WRC having contested the 1999 Championship as an official driver for the Ford team in a Focus WRC. Elsewhere, M-Sport’s long partnership with Ford continues to provide the very best technical support both on and off the stage.

Commencing in Sweden, Al-Rajhi will contest seven rounds of the S-WRC in Portugal, New Zealand, Finland, Wales, France and Spain with a Ford Fiesta RS RRC. A variant of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC, M-Sport’s RRC shares the same DNA as its WRC counterpart, but with a 30mm engine restrictor and aerodynamic modifications to comply with both regional and S-WRC regulations.


Commenting on the newly announced agreement, Simon Jean-Joseph said:

“I am delighted to return to the team [M-Sport] that prompted my first involvement in the WRC back in the days of the Focus. This is a fantastic opportunity for Yazeed [Al-Rajhi], and I am sure he will take full advantage of the experience.”
